Earth Day from the Bike Nazi
The Tribune prints letters telling us global warming is a hoax perpetrated by communist environmentalist scientists. The BikeNazi out of Boise revisits his youthful environmentalism while giving us a typically irascible take on keeping a light carbon footprint. It’s a “so what” to those who say people don’t cause climate change while agreeing that there’s an offensive effete tone to many of the warning messages.
Personally I’m less bothered by the arragonce than I am by seeing the message co-opted by commercialism. Have you noticed how everything is “green” these days. Reminds me of how anything labeled “Natural” sold well whether it was really natural at all.
I’m not riding a bike because it is good for the envionment or even because it saves gas expense, but both are side effects I’m willing to promote.–Corrie
Earth Day #1
What a relief! We’ve survived another trip around the sun, and Earth Day (April 22) is once again upon us.
Last year I posted some info from the Wikipedia on the origins of Earth Day. A Wiki contributor observed (humorously, I thought) that it coincided with Eddie “Green Acres” Albert’s birthday.
