This Week at TRC
Everyone seemed pleased with the 9 am start time for this year’s Huckleberry Ride even though the temps seemed pretty mild in Deary. A threat of rain also made us happy to be off the road early. Gorgeous route and Bill and Helen on a tandem to chase.
I had a great week of cycling last year with two centuries and the Huckleberry Ride. This week has less in the planning stages. Only the Salmon River fat tire ride on Sunday shows on the weekend calendar. This sounds like a wonderful ride. Bring a suit and lounge on the river while Doug goes and finds a hill to climb. See his description below. Let’s let him know we’re coming.
Tuesday, June 17th, Ice Cream Ride 6:30 pm Clarkston’s Baskin Robins
We usually head out to the end of the pavement on Asotin Creek. Not everyone needs to go all the way. Turn around as you wish and join us for ice cream back at Baskin Robins about 8:30. Lots of light right now.
Wednesday and Friday Crazy Ladies ride at 8 am. Formation is at 7:45 at the Southway Boat Launch. Leanne says they had a good crowd last week.
Leane Adds: Remember, we have an exciting “Crazy Camp” planned for July 18, 29, 30 for when Sheila comes to visit. I will post the Crazy Camp schedule on the 20th, stay tuned for details. Thanks, Leane
Thursday, June 16th, Kayak experience from the Hells Gate Park boat ramp 11 am.
Marcia Banta writes: I plan to take my kayak for a spin Thursday morning at 11:00, leaving from the Hells Gate Park boat ramp. Weather is supposed to be beautiful J. Anyone who would like to join up just drop me an email. And if you don’t have your own kayak there are several for rent at the marina store. –Marcia
Thursday, June 16th Time Trials at 6 pm down river road west of Red Wolf
Steady turn out for this 10 mile course. Arrive about 5:45 to be seeded. Riders are started slowest first so everyone finishes about the same time.
Saturday, June 18, Still to be determined
I’d like to do another long ride today. If I get no better suggestion, I’ll probably ride up Wawawai Canyon in the morning, maybe Albion Loop, and back on 95. Starting at home, I’d probably leave at 7am. Let me know what you’d like to do.
Sunday, June, 19th, 9 am Salmon River fat tire ride from Riggins

Doug Writes:
Lets meet at southway boat launch at 7am to combine gear and carpool as much as possible to Riggins. Folks who can’t carpool for whatever reason plan to meet us in Riggins at 9am. Take the bridge across the little Salmon River at the south end of town and we will meet up just on the other side of the bridge.
Forecast is for low 90s so bring sunscreen and plenty of water. We will bring a filter pump along as well just in case we run low.
The total ride is 50 + miles on nice gravel/dirt roads. This is an out and back with some moderate up and down and mostly sticks quite close to the river. Folks can ride as far as they want and stop and hang out on any of the many nice beaches along the way and swim or nap. Bring a lunch.
We will probably stop at a resturaunt in town for an early dinner before heading back to Lewiston. Hope to see you Sunday! Doug
Let’s let Doug know your’re coming.
All rides begin at the Southway boat launch unless otherwise noted. Bad weather may keep us off our bikes without notice.
