May is Bike Month

After two years of effort to stimulate commuting and interest in cycling in the valley, the TRC board is taking this year off. Thanks to Mike for putting on the Bicycle Poker Run last year and to Linda for her outreach to the Chamber and St. Joe’s and for leading her Easy Does It Rides.

We haven’t lost interest. It’s just that we’d rather be riding our bikes. That said, we are still going to be gearing up for cycling season. Here’s what you can look forward to from TRC in May: You can learn more about these from the main page of the TRC site and the Calendar.

1. Time Trials have already started and run every Thursday on Down River Road.

2. Tuesday ice cream rides begin on May 11th

3. Linda’s Easy Does It Ride takes on an artistic flair on the 22nd.

4. Lee’s Friday Steptoe Rides start on the 7

5. Saturday 8 am Lead a Club Rides. We need volunteers to lead these. Let me know if you can help.

6. Niki’s Sammich Ride happens on the 9th

7. The Crazy Ladies have already moved their start time up from noon to 11 on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. (Hey, ladies. How about leading an 8 am start one Saturday?) Look for those rides to start earlier as the weather improves.

8. Sherri’s Hog n Grog is on the 15th. Okay, it’s not biking but who doesn’t like to end a ride with a cold one and wee bit of barbecue?

9. Mark Schmidt hosts his second annual Pomeroy fat tire ride on Sunday, the 23rd.Calendar

10. Dave Tibbals offers an epic tour of the Palouse on the 29th. Corrie and Dave are going for 140 miles starting at Dissemore’s in Pullman at 7. Join us, or get a friend and do a leg of the ride with us. Plenty of circle back options. Calendar

11. Sunday Cycling Society 1 pm road ride from Southway Boat Launch.

12. An don’t forget Bike to work week. Shoot. Go ahead and commute all month long. You’ll like it. Visit our advocacy page for some tips on commuting.

13. Not sure about bicycling on the roads with all that traffic? Check out our LAB certified classes or arrange for tutoring.  We have speakers for your groups as well.
