Imperial Oil and Highway 12

Public Meeting: Lewiston’s meeting is June 28 (today) from 4 to 7pm at the Red Lion Inn.

If you drive highway 12 to Montana, you know how beautiful this scenic highway can be. Will that change as Imperial Oil moves loads so big they take up the entire road–both lanes. The plan is to move these loads only at night and stop every fifteen minutes to allow traffic to pass.

Twin Rivers Cyclists has specifically been invited to attend one of the open house informational meetings. Lewiston’s meeting is today from 4 to 7pm at the Red Lion Inn.

Jun. 19–Representatives of Imperial Oil and the Idaho Transportation Department will conduct meetings to discuss plans for moving 200 oversized truckloads of equipment from Lewiston to Montana along U.S. Highway 12.

Two meetings were originally scheduled, in Lewiston and Kooskia. A third was recently added in Moscow at the request of Rep. Tom Trail.
