Hey, this is one I see you guys doing too often. We’re cruising down the street passed parked cars and I notice you are avoiding being hit from behind by riding too close to those cars.

This video also demonstates a singular flaw in the implementation of most bicycle lanes. If you actually ride in the lane, you’re at risk of being doored.

Also notice that cars should turn into the bike lane at the intersection before making that right turn.

Now the controversy: LAB assigns bike friendly status to cities with bike facilities such as these lanes. And yet the LAB instructors hate them arguing that a cyclist who rides vehicularly taking the lane and avoding the door zone doesn’t need lane markings. Special markings only persuade drivers and cyclist that they shouldn’t be on the road with cars but only in specially marked places. –Corrie
