Fagan, Schmick legislation to extend scenic byway signed by governor : Washington House Republicans

I’m not sure what Scenic Designation means? The mayor of Rockford seems happy about it so he must expect an economic benefit. It is Republican legislation and tagged a “jobs bill.” I wonder if that means road jobs will be created improving and maintaining this scenic.

I wonder if they’d be so eager to have scenic designation if such designation meant you could not have mega-load traffic on that route?

Reps. Susan Fagan and Joe Schmick this year introduced House Bill 1024 at the request of the towns of Rockford, Fairfield and Latah in southern Spokane County.

The legislation extends the Highway 27 Scenic Byway through the town of Tekoa and through Rockford’s Highway 278, all the way to the Idaho border. This week, the bill was signed into law by the governor.
