Is it time to leave the patch kit at home for your bike rides?

In the ongoing struggle with flat tires, Michelin provides a new self-sealing tube. Yeah, right. Slime and a design that compresses the hole rather than spreads it open.  I’ll carry a spare or two.

I’ve met a few folks on the bike path with little green spots peaking out of their tires. “That’s the good news,” I tell them. “the sliime is working.” The problem is that when you stop rolling, the slime slithers to the bottom of the tire. Just be sure to park that bike with the puncture on the bottom!–Corrie

Some bicycle riders may have patched their last inner tube.

Michelin has put a bike inner tube, called ProTek Max, on the market that seals itself in the event of a puncture. It’s aimed at those who ride on wider road or mountain bike tires.
