Bicycle Advocates have been fighting to protect funding for projects that provide bicycle and pedestrian facilities. We have won the right to allow local communities to apply for State dollars.

Forgotten, though, is additional legislation that mandates use of a trail within 100 yards of roads in National Parks and forests. It is a bluderbuss tool, designed seemingly for no other reason that moving annoying bicyclists off the road. John Allen gets down to cases in his blog.–Corrie

 

The wording isn’t really about safety. It is, as usual, about getting bicyclists off the road for the convenience of motorists. The wording is particularly blundering and insensitive, even for a mandatory sidepath law.
