How Cycling Can Save States #NBS12

Out of the crisis of funding for bike/ped projects, we may have a new b eginning. A thing called “recission” has been a standard pracice. That’s where unspent dollars are sent back to the feds. Perhaps with the new state and local control, bicycle advocates will create enough demand to spend all the dollars. Of course that will mean being more active locally in promoting bicycling.–Corrie

Local control of federal bicycle and pedestrian funding means state advocates and support will be more important that ever. Summit attendees at the “How to Save Cycling at the State Level” session learned about successful state advocacy and ways to work with their governor, legislature, and agency staff to continue investing in bicycling and walking.
